Search and Rescue Talk at the Rye Public Library

On Saturday, February 20 at 1 p.m., Drs. Lori Gordon and Janet Merrill, both veterinarians and members of the Massachusetts Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue Team, will present a discussion of the use of trained rescue dogs in search and rescue operations in settings of urban destruction.

From the Rye Library web site:

We’ve all read about the amazing rescues of survivors in the rubble of Port Au Prince in the aftermath of Haiti’s earthquake. Teams of dogs and handlers from around the world were active in this most recent natural disaster. Our presenters will offer a view into the world of these rescuers and the incredible abilities of specially trained rescue dogs.
