Sled dog derby folks expect fine conditions for event

With winter here, it is sled dog racing season, again.  The Citizen is reporting that:

“Despite the rapid disappearance of snow from last week’s blizzard, organizers of the Laconia World Championship Sled Dog Derby are optimistic that there’ll be plenty of the white stuff in time for the 81st running of the event next month.

Managed by the Lakes Region Sled Dog Club, the derby is scheduled for Feb. 12-14 and “if we have a normal winter,” meaning that there’ll be average snowfall, it will once again begin from Opechee State Forest on North Main Street, Jim Lyman, who is the club’s president and trail boss, said on Monday.”
